OOX will be bringing you a series of mixtapes over the cold and dark months to come. Crate digging, musical celebrations transmitting into our living rooms. Please listen, engage, contribute and keep our little OOX community alive!
Our eighth tape comes from LUNA - A core member of the Melodic Distraction Radio Crew!
LUNA is a rising star of UK electronica and one of the brightest talents in Liverpool’s prolific and eclectic scene. Check out her debut EP here!
In her own words:
"For my OOX mix, I chose to celebrate some of my favourite music coming out of Africa between the 70s-90s.
It has become strikingly relevant now, with the recent #ENDSARS social media movement against abuses by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria. I urge anyone reading this to please support the victims of this brutality by heading to PROJECTPROTECT, and donating if you can afford to.
I hope this mix can bring some sunshine to your day, with tracks spanning afrobeat, zouk, funk and more from musical icons including Oumou Sangaré, Aby Ngana Diop and Sonya Spence."
I am super grateful to LUNA for putting this together. She hits the brief of crate-digging for home listening bang on the head and I love her radio-style interludes between tracks. Please go check out her music afterwards and give her a follow! Take it away, LUNA...
